Born to immigrants from the Dominican Republic, Julissa called Brooklyn, NY her hometown. While remaining close to her extended family, she decided to go out of state for her education. There, Julissa has built friendships that is sure to stand the tests of time.
Today, Julissa is a Social Studies teacher for the NYC Department of Education. When she is not teaching (and chasing the kids), Julissa is looking for new places to explore near and far.
On September 19, 2011, JT Reyes came into our lives as a long awaited blessing. 19 months later [April 22, 2013], Juliet was born and brought lots more joy into our household. Together, their antics fill our friends and family with warm feelings and usually great laughter.
A life-long New Yorker, Tony grew up in its northern most borough, The Bronx. It's where he learned the value of "street smarts" and that "family" isn't necessarily limited to the Puerto Rican blood that runs through his veins.
Currently, Tony works at a consulting firm where assists clients in their marketing efforts. When away from the office, he tries to make time to root for the local sports teams (if Mickey Mouse isn't on).
The summer of 1998 changed our lives forever. We were young (and loved our "freedom"), but when we met, we had an instant connection. Initially, dating long distance took a toll on the relationship. Thankfully, "absence makes the heart grow fonder."
Today, Julissa and I look back to many milestones in our lives. Getting married in May 2008. Buying our first home in the summer of 2011. Later that year, we are joined by our first born, JT. Then in 2013, our daughter, Juliet, made our family complete.
You can never know where life is going to take you, but we do know that we'll have great fun getting wherever we are going.
